Electric Fences for Home Security
One concern that should always be on the minds of
people is home security. Without it, criminal elements may slip
inside to steal or do something worse.
This is the reason most American homes have a security system
installed. Once triggered, an alarm will sound while some even have
the ability to send a signal to the police that an intruder has
broken in.
Most houses in the city rely on infrared or digital systems. It is
rare to see a home that has stonewalls or a gate unless it is a
mansion.
People will likely see a picket fence in the rural rather than the
urban areas. Homes that decide to have this as part of security
system are powered by the regular A/C outlet. Since these are kept
on 24/7, the only way to save on the electricity bill is by using
solar power instead.
For farmers, the electric fence has a dual purpose. First, it
prevents the livestock from wandering off outside the farm. Second,
this serves as a deterrent from predators like wolves that may come
in and eat the animals.
In both examples, it is not very often that an intruder or a
predator will die once it comes to contact with the electric fence.
It will be a shocking experience which is a good warning not to try
it again.
Having an electric fence put up does not cost a fortune. The
material and some wood can be purchased from the hardware store by
the yard and can be installed with a little help. Some wires must
run from the outlet to the fence. This can be tested by throwing a
stick at it and if sparks fly, then this is working properly.
Most electric fences used in the urban areas are placed on top of a
concrete wall. This is simply an added measure for those who are
able to climb it.
A lot more detail must be done for putting up an electric fence in
the farm. This is because a chicken or a pig may get through the
open areas while a horse may jump through it. People are required to
follow the standard specs and those who fail to do so will get in
trouble with the law and be charged with animal cruelty.
There is another type of electric fencing that does not require the
installation of one. This may sound confusing at first but it is
composed of three things namely some underground wire, a transmitter
and a collar.
If an animal suddenly wanders off, an alarm will send a low voltage
shock to the pet making sure it stays within the boundaries. This is
very useful for people who do not want the dog to be nurtured.
There are other home security systems available in the market aside
from the electric fence. People know that this is just the first
line of defense against an intrusion. Should criminal elements get
in and manage to deactivate the alarms, the homeowner has to take
matters into one's own hand in neutralizing the threat that could
come to the family.
Most courts will go in favor of the side of the person because this
is simply a case of self-defense and everyone will do the same thing
given the situation.
