Types of Driveway Alarms
The best way to stay alert from any threat is by having an alarm
system installed in the driveway. These things are more effective in
the evening rather than the daytime. This is because an intruder may
approach a home with just the porch light on then suddenly realize
that lights and sirens go off once it has been triggered.
This is more than enough to scare anyone off and if there is a
neighborhood watch, people will be on the lookout for the suspect
just in time for the police to come in and make the arrest.
There was a time that such driveway alarm systems were wired to the
fuse box. These days, everyone has gone wireless.
There are not that many people in the world that live in a palace
with servants standing by. Many live in a 500 to 1,000 square feet
home which in many respects is what many refer to as the castle.
Sadly, there are more incidents these days of burglary and home
invasions. Although the 911 systems have worked in stopping crime,
it takes time for a call to come in and a unit can be dispatched.
Driveway alarms will cost from $20 to a little over $300. These are
usually purchased in packs that come with accessories and an
instruction manual. Here are some examples of those currently
available in the market.
The first is the Optex Wireless Visitor System. This is composed of
the power box, RF transmitter and the remote sensor. This device is
weatherproof so when someone comes within a few yards of the home,
an alarm will sound even before that individual will ring the bell.
The Reporter Wireless Motion with Voice Communication is very useful
so that the homeowner can immediately ask who is there without even
going to the door. It uses the same devices as the first one
mentioned which is very easy to use.
The Murs Alert Driveway Alarm is another popular product. It will
alert the homeowner if anyone is coming through a voice activated
system. It has a maximum range of up to two miles which is something
that not every company can give to the customer.
Most alarm system will only detect the heat signature of someone
coming up towards the house. The Reporter Wireless Driveway system
can also be used to detect an approaching vehicle.
The only way to improve the driveway alarm system that was purchased
is by wiring certain accessories to it. This includes the lamps,
cameras and the sirens that are all under $50. The homeowner may
need some assistance here to avoid shorting the circuits.
People don’t have to buy these items separately since there are
security companies that offer these products in packages. Some even
provide round the clock patrols with a squad car while others that
are rich can get a security firm to man the house.
The individual should probably compare the prices and ask for the
names and contact numbers of existing and previous clients. This
will give the customer an idea how well the security company has
performed in the past.
Home security should be everyone's concern because there is no
telling when something bad could happen so it is best to stay
prepared at all times.
