Best Places to Keep Your Pepper Spray.
Although pepper sprays are usually associated with
personal protection on the streets, they can and should play a key role
in your residential defence. An effective fogger pepper spray can be
used directly on an assailant or as an area contamination device to
provide a barrier between you and the intruder.
Effective home defense with pepper sprays depends on four factors:
placement and immediate availability of a pepper spray, the ability to
retreat to a "safe place" and call fro help, development of a defence
plan that include all residents and practice of the planned response.
Where you keep your pepper spray in your home is
important. The faster you can get it, the better your chances of
stopping an intruder or driving him away. Walk through your home asking,
"where would and intruder enter?" and "Where should I place the pepper
sprays so I can get them quickly?"
The two primary locations to consider are by your
bedside and by main entrances. If the pepper spray must be kept away
from small kids, you can place it on a nearby closet shelf. Pepper
sprays near main doors can also be a problem if you have kids, but
that's easily solved with a small patch of sticky-sided velcro. If
someone tries to force his way in, you simply pull the pepper spray off
the door, step back and spray the intruder.
The size and type of your home are also important. An
apartment, for instance, with only one door and two windows on a second
floor is much easier to defend than a sprawling ranch home with three of
four doors and several windows. In a smaller residence you need one or
two pepper sprays but in a larger house you should consider buying three
or four sprays and place them near all entrances and at your bedside.
And keep in mind that for home defense the best pepper
spray is a fogger because the fog tends to hang in the air and you can
use these several minutes of undisturbed air to safely escape from the
house. Here are fogger models we have:
